Somerset Cider Brandy Company's Pork and Cider Pie

A classic food pairing – baked in a pie!

Like lamb and mint or beef and horseradish, pork and apples are the happiest of culinary bedfellows. Which is why we've put them together in the Somerset Cider Brandy Company's Pork and Cider Pie. What a winning combination – sweet and yielding pork that's cooked to the point of tender perfection in a gravy made sweet-sharp by the appley flavour of Burrow Hill Cider made here in Somerset. It's all wrapped up in a buttery shortcrust pastry that flakes and crumbles under the knife.

Their farm sits amid 180 acres of ancient apple orchards and cider has been pressed on site for at least 200 years. Over 40 varieties of apple go into making their various ciders, some of which is distilled in the only cider brandy made in the UK.

Product FAQs

  • We deliver our organic produce Tuesday – Saturday and you will be able to choose your preferred delivery day at checkout. The delivery charge is £3.95.

  • Freezing is the most natural way of preserving food. And as here at Coombe Farm Organic we believe in slow-grown, healthy food, a form of preservation that doesn’t need artificial additives gets a big tick from us.

We use blast freezing to preserve all of our meat products. It’s done as soon as our pies are made, to temperatures of -26°C. This locks in all the freshness, flavour and nutritional value and means you get the longest possible shelf life at home once you’ve defrosted it.

It also guarantees it will arrive with you in tiptop condition - confidently delivering fresh pies would be much more challenging.

  • At coombe farm organic we like to work with like-minded organic and/or sustainable producers to bring you delicious produce, our pie makers are just down the road from us, keeping our carbon footprint to a minimum

You will find any product ingredients on the relevant product pages.

Before cooking, thaw your pie thoroughly then egg-wash the top so the lid gets crispy and golden. Bake for 20 minutes in an oven preheated to 180°C.
